Mother of the Bride Dress

Another triumphant check mark has been placed on my never-ending To Do list for our up-coming wedding… and what better time to pick a Mother of the Bride dress than on Mother’s Day? I had a great time scouring the Internet with my Mom, looking at what was probably hundreds of fancy evening gowns. We finally picked one that both of us fell in love with the moment we laid eyes on it. We ordered this dress in the divine chocolate brown as shown. It’s an A-line Sweetheart cut floor-length gown made in satin. It comes with a removable bolero jacket, and is strapless beneath. Mom’s going to look fabulous!

WIP – Ocean Themed Mini Book

I love making these tiny books, but never know what to write in them or who to give them to. I have some that are half this size laying around somewhere, not being loved…

This one only took me about 2 hours to make. I’m going to high-gloss the blue “water” area and the shells on the front, and only the tentacles, star, and coral will be glossy on the back. I’d like to find some sandy colored, artisan type of paper to put in it. I would also like to add some clear rhinestones to the front as a “bubble” effect. As you can see, it’s about the size of a toothpick (about 2in x 2in).

Here is my progress thus far (sculpted & baked); no gloss, binding, paper, or rhinestones.

Wedding Invites – CHECK!

I am finally getting serious about wedding planning and have crossed quite a few things off my list this week. I’m currently most happy about FINALLY ordering our invitations. I’m not sure if these things are supposed to be kept “secret” until hitting peoples mailboxes, but I wanted to share the design we picked…

I just love them! I knew I didn’t want anything boring or traditional, and when I saw these scroll invitations I was sold! I just sent in my order and am waiting for the .jpeg of the draft… can’t wait to see it!! Our wedding colors are not brown and gold, but brown with very subtle teal accents here and there. Needless to say, chocolate brown and teal is not an easy combo to find, so this color scheme was a compromise. In any event, I think the brown and gold look great together and I believe these will get some “oohs” and “ahhs” when people receive them in the mail. Other than invites I’ve also sealed the deal with catering (+ picked out the cake design), figured out what our wedding favor goodies will be (pix later) and we picked out Alfonso’s suit. Yippee!

Blogging Marathon

Whew.. I’m beat!

I just had a multi hour marathon of working on the site. Try not to be too distracted by the fact that all the posts were made within the last 24 hours – I completely nuked MissTyffany.com and decided not to save any of the old posts. I’ve been working feverishly today to get some content up… it’s 2:21 am and I’m posting my final blog from my beloved Android from bed before my fiance gets out of the shower. I’ve already been scolded for staying up so late in the first place ;P

Now the site feels more like home to me. Not just somewhere to shamelessly shill my wares, but a place to use as my personal creative outlet. I hope the fact that I love the new layout of MissTyffany.com translates in to me staying totally active on the site.

Tomorrow is filled with errands and dinner at my moms house, but more goodies to come in the following days including a review of colored UV Nail Acrylic and a Japanese epi-stick for hair removal.

…gosh, I just love eBay!

WIP – Denim Pencil Skirt

I recently went down a size in pants, so I have a whole pile of practically new jeans that I wanted to put to good use. I’ve been dying to learn how to sew my own garments – in my mind I imagine making myself a whole fabulous tailored wardrobe – so I thought I would start small. I’ve always wanted a dark wash denim pencil skirt, but when I try to purchase one off the rack they never quite fit right. I have wide hips and a big butt, so while the skirt may fit just fine at the waist it never had that tight, form tracing fit. I started cutting away at a part of jeans and this was the outcome. I still have some fine-tuning to do, like hemming the bottom and pressing down the new seams, but I think it’s a keeper! I can’t wait until it’s complete and I can wear it out and about!

WIP – Ice Cream Pendants

I have to admit that I haven’t touched a piece of clay in about 4 months now, but I still have a lot of unfinished pieces laying around waiting for some love. I came across this picture of 2 ice cream cone pendants that now, looking back on them, seem incomplete. I would definitely say that these are not ready to be sold, they’re missing some pizzazz! Just wanted to share a couple of works in progress while I try to fill out the body of this blog ;)

Handbag – YSL Easy

In my opinion, studs NEVER go out of style. I have to admit that I fell in love when I saw this Studded Yves Saint Laurent Easy handbag. This bag is a beast at 50 x 28 x 17 cm and can be worn “unsnapped” for extra room, as shown. The word “pricey” is an understatement… but if you buy one bag this year, make it this one.

Love these shoes and you CANNOT beat the price. They were $10, but are now marked down to $8 on Walmart’s website. I have these 3 colors, plus black with white polka dots (in fabric) and cheetah print (in fuzzy fabric from last season). They are simply adorable with the aforementioned Fragile Jeans!
